Meet Our Staff- Karen Stanley

Hello! I’m Karen Stanley. I’m the Wee Care director at First Baptist Church of LaPlace. God called me to this role in April of 2021. Before the director, I was a 2 year old teacher at Wee Care for 3 years.
I am married to Matt Stanley and we have a little girl, Reagan. She is 4 years old and attends Wee Care in the three year program. At home, we are covered with love from our 11 year old boxer, Deuce. I have been a resident of LaPlace since I was 5 years old and am a Riverside Academy alumni. Most people know my maiden name, Cortez. My parents are Patty and Eddie and they have 3 other children besides me.
My love for children started growing when I would volunteer in the church nursery program. From then on, I would volunteer in VBS, choose children related programs when we would go to youth camp and babysit children in the church as much as possible.
I have known my whole life that I would be surrounded by children. Little did I know God’s plan of leading me to be the director of the preschool at my home church. This my dream job and I look forward to leading our kids toward Christ everyday.
